I was never particularly interested in chess. So it was probably a destiny for me to grow very close with two chess grandmasters in recent years (like attracts like ?).

My little brother hates it when I take pictures of the game I have just won :).
Trading forex and playing chess are similar in many aspects.
-
There is duality of black and white, up and down.
-
Need to focus for prolonged periods of time.
-
Need to take decision based on rationality and calculation, not emotions.
-
You need to hold a lot of data in your immediate memory accurately.
-
One lapse of focus, or miscalculation can cost you the whole game / profits for the week.
-
You get the advantage by preparing attack and defense for your opponent in advance.
-
There is infinite number of styles / strategies to play the same game.
-
Getting good takes years of practice, with periods of stagnation and going all backwards.
For years I knew this two brilliant chess players, but I never play chess. Then I started to play with my brother occasionally. I win most of the games However after a while I start to lose.
And it feels bad. Than I found out that he has been training in secret. He was playing chess online every occasion he got. That little weasel.
So I started training/playing chess daily for utterly ridiculous reason of beating my little brother. This pursuit soon turned into something else.
About one month in, I noticed increased ability to focus on any task at hand. Ability to simultaneously hold and consider many informations at the same time increased drastically.Brain simply refused to get tired. Increase of ability to stay sharp and focused deep into the trade/work was surprising.
Play chess to get better at FOREX trading The funny thing about chess is, that when you play it online, the win actually feels like a win. It doesn't feel meaningless (as it typically does with online gaming). It really feels like you have beaten your opponent. Because you did. You outmaneuvered him, you out-focused him, you did fewer mistakes and stayed one move ahead of him.
Chess is like gym for the brain. It will help you outmaneuver your opponent in Forex game. Stay one move ahead and anticipate what can possibly happen. It will help you hold possible eventualities in your mind clearer. Act on them sharper, with less hesitation and doubt.
